Fourth-year head women’s soccer coach, Benton Frayne, and the Beavers are coming off their best season in a decade.  The Beavers improved in each statistical category from 2021 to 2022, including nearly doubling their goal for and cutting their goal against by 24.  The defense also had two shutouts, tying its mark from the 2019 season.   

In 2021, the Beavers improved in many categories and set the stage for the 2022 season.  The 2020 season saw the program face many obstacles.  It was up against the the 14th toughest schedule in the nation (Massey Rankings) and played a shortened schedule during the spring semester due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.  In 2019, Coach Frayne’s first season, the Beavers doubled their win total from the 2018 campaign.   

Prior to BVU, Coach Frayne served as the assistant women’s soccer coach at Gustavus Adolphus College from 2015 to 2018.  During that tenure, the Gusties compiled a 38-29-11 record, made the conference tournament in 2017, 2016, 2015, and earned a berth in the national tournament in 2015.  Along with Frayne’s time as an assistant at Gustavus, he was also the Director of Coaching for Mankato United.  During his last season in charge, the team compiled a 115-110-30 record. 

Frayne served as an assistant coach at Bethany Lutheran College for the 2013 and 2014 season.  During the 2014 season, he served as both the men’s and women’s assistant.  The women’s club competed in the UMAC conference tournament in 2014.   

Benton and his wife, Jacqui, reside in Storm Lake Iowa with their one-year old son, William.
